Already since 1979 Helmut Schweiger and his wife Kornelia Schweiger are active in the secondary raw material trade. In 1998 Helmut Schweiger GmbH was founded and is known as “Schrott Schweiger”. Shortly after, the current company location in Lannach was opened. Since 2009, the son Florian Schweiger has already been active in waste management and first participated in the company as manager for waste management issues, before he took over the company as managing director in 2021.
At the site in Lannach, Schrott Schweiger has been operating a large plant since 1999. This plant is used for the collection, intermediate storage and treatment of non-ferrous metals and ferrous scrap. Processes such as reprocessing and sorting have been carried out according to Central European quality standards since the start of operations.
By investing in a second plant location and new machinery, the services can be expanded and thus, despite the increase in volume, not only quality assurance can be guaranteed, but also an increase in quality in the sense of the company motto
“The purity of every metal down to the smallest grain is our goal”
can be achieved.
Such expansions and investments are enormously costly. Without funding, such projects not only represent a high risk for companies, but are also virtually impossible to finance. Together with Inspiralia, the application was successfully submitted and the highest possible funding rate of 20% of the recognized project costs was achieved. The funding of one fifth of the project costs of the investment project contributes significantly to capacity expansion and quality improvement.
